BCC (Basic Christian Community) Credit Cooperative Ltd.’s beginning started in an organizational meeting at St. Edward’s Parish hall in Winnipeg on September 5, 2004. The group of twenty Filipino prime movers of the cooperative which was established as a gospelbased Christian organization included two members of the clergy, namely: Rev. Msgr. Enrique Samson, Jr. who is presently the parish priest of St. Peter’s Church and Rev. Fr. Vicente Tungolh who was the former pastor of St. Patrick Church. Msgr. Samson who established the very successful Tindahan sa Katilingban Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Carlos City, Negros Oriental, Philippines was unanimously elected as the founding chairman of BCC Credit Cooperative Ltd. (BCC).

BCC’s incorporation under The Co-operatives Act and its registration with the Manitoba Cooperative Council were approved on November 26, 2004. BCC was subsequently introduced to the general public at its formal launching at St. Edward’s Parish hall in April 2005.

Starting with lending services exclusively for its members, BCC expanded its operations in April 2007 to include money remittance business as an authorized agent of the Bank of the Philippine Islands’ (BPI) BPInoy Express Remittance service. BCC’s tie up with BPI provides its customers with the fastest and safest means of sending money to the Philippines at lower service fee and competitive exchange rate. BCC’s on-line connection with BPI enables it to process money remittances in real time and its access to BPI’s extensive branch network gives it the ability to remit money practically to any place in the Philippines. BCC’s money remittances can be done thru direct credit to Philippine peso, Canadian and US dollar accounts with BPI (which can be done in less than 15 minutes), pick-up at any BPI and BPI Family Bank branch, door-to-door cash and check deliveries and direct deposits to other banks in the Philippines.

Aside from providing fast, safe and hassle-free ways of delivering money, BCC’s remittance services also include deliveries of the famous delicious Jollibee meals and good quality brand new appliances to the Philippines. These services are distinctly BCC's!
